Jugnuma (2025)

Spring of 1989, nestled high in the Indian Himalayas where even birds glide low to avoid losing their way in the thick clouds, lives Dev, a soft-spoken man who owns an expansive estate dotted with multiple orchards. Residing in a colonial-style home with his family, Dev spends much of his time crafting human-sized wings, which he dons for brief morning flights over his property. One day, Dev stumbles upon a single burnt apple tree on his land. Within days, more trees fall victim to mysterious fires. Concerned, Dev and his manager begin closely monitoring the plantation workers, sparking tension and unrest among them. Suspicion soon falls on a group of nomads, while a corrupt police officer enters the scene. In response, loyal guards take turns camping in the orchards to keep a vigilant watch through the nights. Despite these precautions, a devastating blaze erupts a week later, consuming an entire mountainside filled with trees. Determined to find the arsonist, Dev escalates the search to armed confrontation. This slow, relentless destruction of his orchards forces him to confront harsh truths about himself and his family.
