She recalls receiving the offer to star in 'Doom' while working on the adaptation of Jane Austen's 'Pride & Prejudice.' At the time, she believed that participating in a high-profile sci-fi blockbuster could propel her career into new territory.

Pike thought that her experience with complex period roles would easily translate to the action-packed world of science fiction, boosting her versatility as an actress.
