Young Actor Cast as Atreus in Amazon's 'God of War' Series

Amazon Prime Video has officially announced the casting of the young actor who will portray Atreus, the key character in the upcoming live-action adaptation of the acclaimed video game God of War. Callum Vinson will take on the role of Atreus, partnering on screen with Rahul Kohli, who has been confirmed to play Kratos, the formidable father figure.

In addition, Amazon has unveiled the rest of the ensemble cast, featuring notable actors:

• Mandy Patinkin as Odin
• Alastair Duncan as Mimir
• Danny Woodburn and Jeff Garlin as the dwarf brothers Brok and Sindri

This project is a collaboration between Amazon, Sony Pictures Television, and PlayStation Productions. The series will draw inspiration from the last two entries in the franchise — God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök. Leading the series are showrunner Rafe Judkins (The Wheel of Time) and writers Mark Fergus & Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man).

He is an adept archer, has a strong affinity for nature and animals, and is characterized by his quick wit and curiosity.

After Faye's death, Atreus is left under the care of his distant and emotionally reserved father, a man he scarcely knows. Despite this, he seeks Kratos’s approval and strives to prove his resilience in a world filled with gods and monsters. As the story progresses, Atreus begins to uncover his divine heritage and the secrets surrounding his lineage, which become central to the series’ dramatic development.

Filming for what is considered one of Amazon Prime Video’s most ambitious projects is set to commence soon.
