Bethesda will re-release Fallout: New Vegas for the game's 15th anniversary
The cult classic RPG’s anniversary edition is set to launch this summer and is now available for pre-order.
Fans of the Fallout franchise are experiencing mixed emotions. On one side, the Amazon Prime Video television adaptation has become one of the most successful video game adaptations in recent years, drawing new audiences to the beloved series. On the other hand, gamers eagerly awaiting news on Fallout 5 remain in suspense, as Todd Howard and the Bethesda team have provided only sparse updates, with most development efforts currently focused on The Elder Scrolls VI.
Amid this situation, Bethesda has a special surprise for fans: a new Fallout title arriving in 2026. However, it’s important to note this won’t be a direct sequel but rather a revisit to a fan-favorite classic.
Anniversary Edition — A Tribute, Not a Remake
The studio has officially unveiled an anniversary edition of Fallout: New Vegas to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the iconic RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment. The release is planned for June, with pre-orders currently open.
Contrary to some expectations, this edition is not a remaster or a complete remake, but a re-release of the original game. Despite its age, New Vegas remains one of the most cherished and intricately designed entries in the series, praised for its complex moral decisions, diverse quests, and open-ended gameplay.
Features Included in the Anniversary Edition
Bethesda’s official overview highlights the game’s standout elements:
“Venture through the sprawling wasteland—from quaint settlements to the dazzling Vegas Strip. Align yourself with factions in a looming conflict that will shape the region’s destiny. Experience refined real-time combat with V.A.T.S., Hardcore mode, and enhanced companion controls. In this vast open world brimming with endless opportunities, choose to follow the main storyline, shift the balance of power, or carve your own unique path.”
This anniversary edition focuses on evoking nostalgia and preserving the authentic experience, without introducing major graphical or technical overhauls.
Fallout 5 Still on Hold
Although many fans hoped the franchise’s renewed popularity would speed up the arrival of a new main installment, Bethesda has yet to reveal any concrete plans or timelines for Fallout 5. The re-release of New Vegas serves as a compromise—keeping the community engaged and reminding everyone why this title continues to set the gold standard for storytelling in Fallout RPGs.
While anticipation for a true sequel builds, Bethesda invites players to return to the Mojave Wasteland and once more shape the fate of New Vegas through their choices.
