Tyler Perry, the celebrated American actor, director, and producer, is currently embroiled in a significant legal dispute. Actor Mario Rodriguez, who appeared in the 2016 movie Boo! A Madea Halloween, has filed a lawsuit against Perry, accusing him of sexual harassment and causing severe emotional distress.

The lawsuit was submitted to the Superior Court of Los Angeles. In the court filings, Rodriguez alleges that Perry subjected him to unwanted sexual advances over several years at his Los Angeles residence, describing the behavior as systematic and persistent.

One pivotal incident cited in the case occurred in 2018, where Rodriguez claims Perry forcefully hugged him before inappropriately touching his genitals without consent. The plaintiff highlights the profound psychological trauma and lasting emotional damage resulting from this encounter.

Rodriguez, who played a minor role credited as "Fraternity Guy #10" in Boo! A Madea Halloween, accuses Perry of intentional infliction of emotional distress and abusing his power as a prominent producer and director.

The lawsuit also implicates Lionsgate, the film’s distribution company, alleging that they neglected to address Perry’s misconduct or take steps to safeguard the cast. Rodriguez is demanding compensation totaling at least $77 million.

According to the complaint, Rodriguez’s direct communication with Perry ended in 2019, yet Perry allegedly continued to make periodic attempts to reach out. The decision to pursue legal action reportedly came after Rodriguez became aware of a similar lawsuit filed by Derek Dixon, another actor who previously accused Perry of sexual harassment.

As of now, Tyler Perry’s representatives have not released any official statements in response to these new allegations.
