Sony is preparing a new film in the “Men in Black” franchise.
The beloved sci-fi comedy franchise is set to continue, thanks to the efforts of screenwriter Chris Bremner.
Following his successful revival of the Bad Boys franchise, Sony Pictures is now aiming to reinvigorate another legendary series — Men in Black. The studio has officially announced its partnership with Bremner, known for his work on Bad Boys for Life (2020) and the upcoming Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024), to pen the script for the new installment. Details regarding casting remain undisclosed, and Sony has yet to release any formal statements.
Is Agent J Making a Comeback?
While the storyline remains a closely guarded secret, insiders reveal that Will Smith, the original trilogy’s lead, will be the first to review the finished script. The studio is hopeful he will reprise his role as Agent J. It is still uncertain whether Smith’s return will be as a main character or a brief cameo symbolizing a “passing of the torch.” Nonetheless, Smith’s character is already featured in the initial draft of the screenplay. At this point, the actor has not committed and will make a decision after reading the script.
A Screenwriter with a Proven Track Record
Chris Bremner boasts an impressive resume, with the last two Bad Boys movies grossing a combined total of USD 837.1 million worldwide. His collaboration with Will Smith extends beyond this franchise as well; Bremner recently wrote the screenplay for Netflix’s action thriller Fast and Loose, another significant project starring Smith.
An Exciting New Chapter Ahead
The upcoming Men in Black revival is shaping up to be a highly anticipated event for fans, potentially ushering in a fresh era for the iconic agents who combat mysterious alien threats.
