Maharashtra boasts a rich and celebrated history, with the era of Shivaji Maharaj standing as a source of immense pride. During this time, Adilshah of Bijapur emerged as Shivaji Maharaj’s fiercest adversary and ruled over Konkan and Maharashtra. Shivaji Maharaj, by establishing Swaraj in these regions, liberated the people from Adilshah’s oppressive reign, making him the prime enemy of Shivaji. Subsequently, Adilshah declared war on Shivaji Maharaj and succeeded in capturing the strategic Panhala Fort. Despite numerous efforts, Shivaji Maharaj was initially unable to reclaim the fort. Leveraging his cunning political skills, Adilshah appointed the ruthless Beshakh Khan as the fort’s guardian. Beshakh Khan’s unlawful and immoral actions posed a significant threat to Swaraj and obstructed Shivaji Maharaj’s coronation. Overcoming Beshakh Khan and recapturing Panhala Fort thus became a matter of honor and prestige for Shivaji Maharaj. The film *Farzand* vividly depicts the heroic exploits of Shivaji Maharaj’s 60 valiant warriors, led by Kondaji Farzand, showcasing their remarkable feat in reclaiming the Panhala Fort.
